Horror is definitely my thing, but I’m not just referring to cinema. I love anything scary. I really enjoy visiting scare attractions (you’ll find plenty of reviews on here) but don’t think for a second that I don’t get scared myself, because I really do! I love Halloween; it’s a very special time of year when I like to watch loads of films, have a few treats and a few decent scares.
My favourite horror film of all time is The Exorcist. When I was young I knew of it and had a vague understanding of what it was about- just enough for me to want to avoid it. I recall one evening my parents were watching it, and just knowing it was on in the room below me was enough to keep me awake that night. However, curiosity eventually took over and I conquered it just before I hit my teens. And from then on I was hooked; I thought it was absolutely terrifying and I loved that feeling. I’ve been into horror films ever since.
Currently I’m a progammer for Celluloid Screams horror film festival here in Sheffield. This involves watching tonnes of horror films to help put together the programme of both shorts and features, which I really enjoy. The festival itself is an exciting time, I’m there all weekend helping to keep things running smoothly so all of our passholders have the best experience possible. It’s hard work but it’s very rewarding. If you’re attending and you spot me, please do come and say hello!
Haunted attractions, haunted houses, scare events, scare entertainment; whatever you want to call it, I love it all. What started out as a little Halloween treat has become a big part of my life. The industry is growing rapidly and becoming way more diverse; different types of scare events are growing in popularity, such as overnight experiences, and an increasing number of attractions are now running outside of the typical scare season.
I write features on upcoming attractions, so if you have an event planned that you’re looking to get exposure for, then don’t hesitate to get in touch! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. No event is too small. I also write attraction reviews, so please do get in touch if you would like me to review your event.
So that’s about it really. Have a look around; you’ll find a mixture of reviews, thoughts, a few ramblings. All scare related. Please feel free to leave me a comment or follow me on Twitter. Thanks for stopping by!
